Best Lure for Muddy Water - Biobait Slime Bug

When the water gets that Gatorade Lime look I typically start using darker lurers. My favorite go to soft plastic in these type of conditions is the Biobait Slime Bug. Speckled trout have great eyesight for detecting contrast in the water. The purple will contrast better in the water than lighter colored lurers, and the chartreuse like color on the bottom of the lurer adds a little flash when the sun catches it just right on the wobble. Biobait has a scent built into it, with the added benefit it doesn’t dry out. The lurers are durable so you can catch multiple fish on a single one provided they just don’t rip into it.

If you fish less than ideal colors, give what I call “LSU” colored lures a try. These will be purple and chartreuse. The most common are purple paddeltails with chartreuse tails. Rootbeer, black, and green lures also work if that is all you have. I try to keep my lure selection simple so whenever I go out I usually have a white paddletail and a purple and chartreuse paddetail available so I can fish just about any water condition.
