Texas Eye Rig and Slam Shady : Heron Bayou - Pensacola

The tide was going out for this lunchtime trip in Heron Bayou just outside of Pensacola near the Florida/Alabama state line. I caught 3 speckled trout all on the 4” Slam Shady paddletail rigged on the Eye Strike Texas rig. There are grass beds and debris in the bayou so I wanted to go as weedless as possible. The specks were scattered from the launch to the mouth of the bayou. Most of the trout in the bayou were small. I could see and feel the strikes. I got multiple strikes but the trout just were not big enough to get hooked. I am fine with that as I don’t want to catch the smaller speckled trout anyway.
